WHAT IF MY CHILD HAS NEVER PLAYED ORGANIZED SPORTS OR IT’S THEIR FIRST TIME PLAYING A PARTICULAR SPORTS?

CYS serves the needs of all youth. They enable the gifted to excel, the less gifted to participate and improve.  All teams will have a mix of experience.

HOW MUCH PLAYING TIME WILL MY CHILD RECEIVE?

All Play. Every healthy uniformed player on the roster present at the game must play at least one half of each contest. This is regardless if a child attends practice or not. The coach does have the right to sit a child if they are a disciplinary issue.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE REGISTRATION FEE?

CYS is 100% run by volunteers. This means that all registration fees go back to your child in many ways. Your child will receive a full uniform. This includes shirt, shorts and socks. During the season, the league will host a picture day. The league will take an individual and team picture. Each child will receive an 8×10 individual picture and 4×6 team picture as part of the registration. At the end of the season, we have a season ending pizza party for the kids.

WHAT DO THE PLAYERS NEED?

Uniform is included in the fee and consists of shirt, shorts and socks. Parents will need to purchase shin guards and soccer shoes or tennis shoes. If you are going to buy soccer shoes, please make sure that they are soccer cleats. Metal cleats are NOT allowed and neither are baseball or football cleats.

OLD SOCCER CLEATS AND SHIN GUARDS

Our league does accept donations of soccer shoes and shin guards that your child has outgrown. We then give your shoes and cleats to kids who need them. This is called our soccer shoe exchange program.

WHAT DAY ARE THE GAMES?

All games will be played on Saturdays.

WHEN ARE THE PRACTICES?

Practices are strictly VOLUNTARY. There may be no more than one practice per week and practice days are determined by the availability of our volunteer coaches and Church locations. Not all churches have lights for night practices. We encourage teams to practice together to increase the philosophy of community and to enhance the learning experience both spiritually and physically.

WHERE ARE THE GAMES PLAYED?

This will depend on what Church you sign up to play for.  There will be 8 games played at your local church and then 4 games played at a designated location. The last 4 games are when we bring all churches together to compete in the Catholic Cup.

WHO WILL MY CHILD BE PLAYING AGAINST?

All children will be placed in age appropriate divisions. Age divisions are based on birth year.

HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT TEAM MY CHILD IS ON?

Rosters are posted Sunday night before the start of the season.

I WOULD LIKE MY CHILD TO PLAY WITH A SPECIFIC FRIEND

To request that your child will play with a specific friend, please fill out the list any friends that you would like to play with section on the player registration. CYS league administrators will do everything possible to ensure that you play with your requested friend. The ONLY exception is if it creates a competitive imbalance.

DO I HAVE TO PAY THE FEES UPFRONT OR DO YOU HAVE A PAYMENT PLAN?

The league has two payment plan options. You can pay in full or select our payment plan option. The payment plan is typically broken into three payments. Please understand, no matter which plan you select, the website adds an additional $3 for each transaction. This transaction fee goes to the web hosting company, not CYS.

WHAT IF I AM UNSURE OF MY CHILDS UNIFORM SIZE?

Please order the to the best of your ability. If your uniform size is incorrect, CYS Sports will exchange your uniform for a size that fits. There are times we have inventory to exchange quickly and there are times we do not have inventory and will order. There is no additional costs to exchanging a uniform.

  • *U18 Comprising of children turning 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 during the calendar year.
  • *Average age in U18 is typically 15.

All age divisions are coed and can be adjusted based on participation.

WHAT IS THE CATHOLIC CUP?

The Catholic Cup is when we bring all the churches together for a season ending tournament and community building. The season ending tournament is for age groups U8, U10, U13 and U18.

Regardless if you win or lose, all teams will play till the 12th week. The 12th week is when we have our end of the season celebration and our pizza party!

IS THE LEAGUE A PARTICIPATION TROPHY LEAGUE?

No, we play for trophies in the Catholic cup, but not all teams will win a trophy. The league believes in earning a trophy. Typically, we reward the top teams with trophies. For example, if there are 8 teams in an age division competing, we will reward individual trophies to the top four teams. If there are 6 teams in an age division competing, the League will only reward individual trophies to the top 3 teams.

CHURCH TROPHIES?

Only the winner of each division will get a trophy to take back to the church they are competing for. The large Catholic Cup trophies will then be displayed at the winning curch until the next Catholic Cup.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY TEAM WINS THE CATHOLIC CUP?

To keep our league balanced and competitive, teams that win the Catholic Cup are broken up and rebalanced on other teams. Our Goal is not to build dynasties, but to give kids a chance to compete against and play with different players. This helps not only in the growth of the player, but also in the growth of our community.

HOW WILL I KNOW A GAME IS CANCELLED?

CYS has adopted the following Rain Out policy. Due to the nature of short rain storms in Florida, the OLOR Soccer weather hotline will have the first notification at 7:00am. CYS is committed to keeping the children safe, while leaving a window open to complete all games.  Games can and will be played in inclement weather, as long as there is no thunder or lightning. During rain delays we ask that you take shelter in your automobile, until games can resume. If games are cancelled, the CYS Sports Director will notify parents via email to notify parents. The Weather hotline will also be updated.

Weather Hotline number is 813-484-8621.
